GENOGRAPHY: WE ARE ALL ONE - Caste system may lead to many recessive diseases
DNA based studies point out that all modern humans share a common female ancestor who resided in Africa about 140,000 years ago. However, human migration from Eastern Africa might have been the origin of both African and Eurasian expansions. The recent genetic studies indicate waves of human migration into India. Genetic analysis of various castes indicates admixture of various populations migrated into India. For unknown reasons, Indian social systems crystallize into rigid caste system. Caste system in India is based on endogamy (marriages within caste group), continuance of which may lead to many recessive diseases, affecting the population of India.
