According to a recent Brookings Institute research report The Geography of Foreign Students in U.S. Higher Education: Origins and Destinations released on Friday, Foreign students from India, China and South Korea are the major contributors to the US economy.
Over the period of 2008 to 2012, foreign students from India, China and South Korea contributed $21.8 billion in tuition fees and $12.8 billion in living costs to 118 metro areas of the US that are home to at least 1,500 students each.
Students from the Indian cities of Mumbai and Hyderabad made a contribution of over $1.25 billion to the American economy with Mumbai sending 17,294 students, Chennai (9,141), Bangalore (8,835) and New Delhi (8,728) to the US during the five-year period, the report said.

Indians Sustaining US Economy Since 90s
As a consequence of such Porno Economics gullible Indian families in order to finance their childrens education ended up having their entire life savings directly into the pockets of Uncle Sam.
Here, we see that there have been three major inflation phases for the cost of college: the first running from 1990 to 1994, the second from 2000 to 2003 and the third from 2007 through at least 2012 (and likely, the present).
Note that each of these periods coincide with periods of recession or extended underperformance for the U.S. economy.
Now check this out, here is where it gets interesting. From the research conducted by PewResearch Social & Demographic Trends on The Rise of Asian Americans we learn that the inflation phases charted above coincides exactly with the inflow of Indian immigrants into the US for College Education.
Remember that this also coincides exactly the same time fancy concepts of Liberalization & Privatization were sold to India in the beginning of the 90s and later during the IT Boom cracking up the Indian market with Economic Reforms the same way East India Company did with it’s concept of Free Trade.
The same time US government increased subsidies for higher education after 1989, in the form of grants and guarantees for student loans, which enabled colleges to continue jacking up their prices well above what a typical Indian or even American household could afford to pay.
As a consequence of such Porno Economics gullible Indian families in order to finance their childrens American Dream ended up having their entire life savings directly into the pockets of Uncle Sam.
What this means is that India has been sustaining the US economy not since just a few years as Brookings report showed but since even before the 90s. Same as India financed and created Modern Britain through the Industrial Revolution when the East India Company had gone bankrupt. Many of the great American and European fortunes were built on the Opium grown on Indian soil destroying agriculture and leading to 400 years of Indian Holocaust that was used to drug entire Chinese generations into subjugation. It were these Opium smuggler families that laid the foundations of Western Education System.
And now when the American Empire is waiting for it’s death nail, novel bollywood style concepts are introduced into India in the form of Skill India, Jan Dhan Yojna etc through Foreign Direct Investment in India.
What nobody seems to question is how when the West is resorting to colonial tactics invading Syria, Ukraine, Iraq to salvage what is left of it’s bankrupt economies, how on earth could the same bankrupt US EU countries would reform and Shine India through FDI ?
Still Dreaming The American Dream ?
To believe, assume, think, analyze, ponder and understand that the heirs of these EICs and others who run these immense MNCs suddenly in the 90s realized that “let us go and spend billions of dollars in India, civilize it, modernize it for the benefit of billion of Indians whose culture is very old and whose food (spicy) that everybody likes” just shows the wild fantasies of Bollywood, Tollywood, Mollywood cultures that is imbibed in our mental thinking process.
Neither their grand fathers came with a charity motto nor these MNCs come with a real intention of developing India. It is obvious that, with the given most latest technology in underground mineral discoveries, the heirs of EICs and current owners of MNCs have definite information about definite material or human resources which should be worth trillions of dollars. To believe that ruthless business men who for 400 years toppled kingdoms, redrew geographies, killed more than 200 million people in umpteen wars in last 100 years, and over a billion in 400 year Indian Holocaust suddenly transformed in to mendicants because they love India is also great wishful thinking of Hollywood style.
We have to find first, if possible from our Central and State Governments as to whether they knew what these huge EICs/MNCs found in terms of material and human resources. If our governments (local, state, central) do not know what is there in India, then probably it is better, as liberalization & privatization advocates plead, to let these MNcs do their modern EIC job perfectly, as it assures “civilizing and modernizing India.”
If our governments do not know then it is the job of every responsible citizen to know as like Dr. Ambedkar said we have to educate ourselves first and become informed citizens then only we can defend our country or republic or sovereignty. It took 100 years to get rid of EICs but it will take less than 20 years to get the MNCs in if we are not vigilant, as “Eternal Vigilance is the price of Liberty” as this liberty we earned for the Republic of India was on the sacrifices of many millions of souls who opposed the oppression, economic exploitation, moral ethical bankruptcy of colonizers, highly racist hate based intolerance of the British Merchants and Rulers. By reversing this Independence Swaraj in 60 years, which was achieved by Mahatma’s Swadeshi Satyagraha, or Tilak’s heroic struggle for birth right to be free and self governed, or of Bose’s gallant battle to dislodge British to have a United India, shows callous attitudes of subjects and rulers and blatant refusal to understand the historical facts and truths that will haunt not only us but our coming generations. Satyameva Jayate should not only be on the logo of our constitution or confined to Mahatma’s biographies, it has to transform our lives as this Satya or Truth alone is worth defending and beholding as it is “dharma-truth in action in real life”.
